Writer's Block: Customizable Party

Invent a political party for the nation in which you reside. What does your ideal platform consist of?

If I were to have a political party, it's main objective would be to increase the budget for education and health care systems by lowering the military's outrageous budget. Simultaneously, it would increase the years that people are required to work- meaning that social security would be available to only the oldest of citizens and after a certain number of years in the work force. For example, my mother's work has the option of early retirement at age 55. My political party would oppose such policies due to the fact that people are living so much longer than they used to.

Another platform that I find important is that of abortion and women's right to choose. Abortion, whether unethical or not, presents a form of population control, which means less money for the state to spend on social welfare programs such as orphanages. Instead that money would go to a new stem-cell research program that would make it mandatory for aborted fetuses to be donated to research. This political party recognizes that stem-cells have the potential to cure a number of diseases and disabilities. We should spend our efforts working to help the people that are already alive, not those that might have the potential to be alive.

Furthermore, this political party would push for setting a higher standard in the workforce to prevent worker's compensation fraud. It currently runs rampant in the public workplace.

But perhaps one of the highest priorities that my political party will have regards the Israel/Palestine conflict. One of the keys to resolving the issues that America has with the Middle East, lies with Israel and Palestine. Many Middle Eastern powers and organizations feel that the US favors all Israeli opinion and policy over theirs. In fact, during the creation of Israel, few Middle Eastern nations were invited to vote, the Palestinians themselves unrepresented. This is an injustice that the Middle East wants the West to atone to, and in mine and my political party's opinion, it is of the utmost importance that the conflict be resolved. Especially if the US continues to do business with Middle Eastern nations such as Saudi Arabia.

That moves me towards another area of international economic relations. The USA, in its mission of spreading democracy, must follow its own creed by supporting human rights movements all over the world. Instead of backing off of its word to support human rights in favor of military strategies (Kazakhstan), the US must strive to honor promises of support and fulfill its self-proclaimed duties as global protector of peace, security, and liberty.

And there was my idealistic, yet entirely fascist political party.
